About the Academy
The Academy of Parish Clergy is an international organization of clergy serving in faith communities of all sizes and settings. APC members value honest and affirming dialogue, collegiality, and enhancement of pastoral skills and competency, all directed towards identifying and addressing the spiritual needs and welfare of our communities, both nearby and globally. Our members seek to give and receive support from their colleagues, both in personal gatherings and through meaningful connections made possible by today’s technological world.
Along with regional colleague groups in regions like Florida, Wisconsin/Chicago, and Dayton Ohio, the APC hosts an annual conference at various locations throughout the East and Midwest. These annual meetings have become the heartbeat of the Academy. In addition to the learning opportunities provided, members share in worship, support, and fellowship with Academy members, the speakers, workshop leaders, authors, and on-site personnel.
The Academy published a quarterly journal, Sharing the Practice, which has article and book reviews that support faith leaders in the practice of ministry. With Energion Publications, the APC also publishes two book series. “Conversations in Ministry” is a series of 100-page books by APC authors, designed to be used for either clergy colleague and support groups or personal use. Our “Guides in Practical Ministry” are longer books, designed to provide clergy with resources written by people who have significant experience with ministry in local congregations.
