  • Preaching Re-Imagined:  A hopeful way forward for those called to preach, Rev. Doug Pagitt. p. 3.  "I am writing with the assumption that most of you reading this have concluded what I have:  preaching doesn't work, at least not in the ways we hope."
  •
  • "Is There any Sorry Like My Sorry?":  Preaching from Lamentations, Rev. Dr. Jerry A. Gladson, APC, p. 5.  Once you feel the pathos that runs through a book like Lamentations, you easily sense this is a text that especially speaks to times when life seems to fall apart and the detitus blocks the way to the future.
  • Paul Tillich as Preacher, Ms. Courtney Wilder, p. 8.   Not every theologian must be a preacher, but Tillich does argue that every preacher should be a theologian.  Thus in order for one to proclaim the gospel, says Tillich, one must have an existential experience of asking the question of God, and express the faith of the church accordingly.
  • Writing Our Way Home in Teaching, Preaching and Soul Tending, Kent Ira Groff, APC, p. 11.  Writing can help us appreciate ministry.  Preaching, teaching, and soul tending extend an invitation to pen our way home and out into the world's need--the tides of contemplation and communicatiion.
  • Happy, Healthy, Shiny, Satisfied Clergy? Rev. Dr. John Crowe, APC, p. 13.  One ministry director stated that any job with 87 percent job satisfaction among those working in the field would have people waiting in line.  Yet, what is the latest news about seminary enrollment, recruiting younger perople into ordained ministry, and probably clergy shortages inv arious denominations?
  •
  • Reflections on Ministry - From the Academy:  Who is My Colleague?, Rev. Dr. David Imhoff, APC, p. 16.
  • Resources for Ministry:  Blogs and Web Links of Note, Editor Robert Cornwall, APC, p. 19.
  • "Tarred With the Same Brush," Forrest Fitzhugh, FAPC, Book Review Editor, p. 19..
