"Surviving and Thriving Among the Battling Baptists:  A Pilgrim Progresses through Church Conflict," by Rev. Dr. Charles J. Scalise

Today pastoral theology especially focuses upon the broader "living human web" of cultural context.  So, in the spirit of these themes this article presents a participant-observer historical case study that examines a "pilgrim professor," who seeks first to survive vocationally and then to thrive in ministry in the midst of a major church conflict.

"Heresy and Biblical Criticism:  The Death of All we Hold Dear?," by Rev. Dr. Jerry A. Gladson, APC

No person in Adams Chapel that night had any inkling that what they were about to hear would set in motion two heresy trials, permanently alter the course of theological education, and shape the future direction of biblical study in the United States.

"The Healing Power of Forgiveness in Prison," by Chaplain Dennis L. Ugoletti, APC

I was a very reluctant prison ministry volunteer from Bible school; he was a convicted murderer.  He looked me square in the eye and said, "The Lord told me I'd be getting a visitor today and to tell him my story."

"Making Disciples," by Rev. Michael Gehring, APC

The leadership of the denomination in the last few years has accentuated/stressed/emphasized, in what seems like every third sentence, evangelism and making disciples.

"Five Lessons for Interim Ministers (and Others) from 'Mary Poppins'," by Rev. Rebecca Littlejohn

You wouldn't expect a children's movie from the 60's to offer lessons about how to help a church re-orient itself in preparation for a new pastor, but afte re-watching 'Mary Poppins" recently, it occurred to me that sometimes what a church in transition needs is someone to come along and say firmly, but gently, "Spit spot."
